Zog Recommends…
Zog recommends the classic novel, A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Toole. A loved piece of American Literature, A Confederacy of Dunces follows the travails of tragicomic hero Ignatius J. Reilly, and his quixotic journey through life in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
Most importantly to Zog, Reilly procures a job as a hot dog street vendor that he executes with great pride and dignity in the name of the hot dog arts. While navigating his cart by way of stray cats and neighborhood punk kids, Reilly never loses site of the simple pleasure and beauty of the hot dog in an ever complicated world.
A Confederacy of Dunces is the tale of a man of great ambition, often misunderstood, and yet dedicated to the hot dog, and sharing its inherent joy with the world. For this Zog’s salutes him, and gives A Confederacy of Dunces the Zog’s Dog stamp of approval.
