Zog’s Dogs hosted youth from the city’s phenomenal Breakthrough program for Career Day 2010. Breakthrough provides academic enrichment and ongoing support to motivated San Francisco fifth and sixth graders with limited educational opportunity.

We had a lot of fun learning about the inner workings of a small business, and the magic that is Autofry.

Factually Proven “King of Hot Dogs”

The University of Michigan has, after much scientific rigor, factually declared Zog’s Dogs the “King of Hot Dogs” in the United States of America. Like that.

Kneel/Walk Away, by Paul Pescador

Serving as the Zog’s Dogs 2010 Fellow, Paul Pescador conducted Kneel/Walk Away on March 24th, 2010 at Zog’s Dogs. In this piece, two actors were given two scripts to perform at Zog’s Dogs. In one situation, a couple purchased a hot dog and got engaged in front of Zog’s Dogs. In the other, a couple purchased a hot dog and broke up in front of Zog’s Dogs. These situations were rotated, and performed every 30 minutes.

This performance was part of a larger body of work surrounding situational actions that occur in public and private settings. His small ephemeral gestures explore social interventions in non-traditional performances spaces, such as apartments, storefronts, and public streets.

Zog’s Dogs Hot Dog Stand Fellowship Performance Piece

Paul Pescador will conduct “Kneel/Walk away”, a new site-specific public performance, in front of Zog’s hot dog stand on March 24, 2010 from 11am-5pm. This performance is part of a larger body of work surrounding situational actions that occur in public and private settings. His small ephemeral gestures explore social interventions in non-traditional performances spaces, such as apartments, storefronts, and public streets.

Paul Pescador is the Zog’s Dogs 2010 fellow. He is an artist and filmmaker. He is a Studio Art MFA candidate at University of California, Irvine. His actions, gestures and performances deal with issues of social disconnection and communal space. He has most recently exhibited at Performing Public Space, Casa de Tunnel, Tijuana, Mexico, Workspace Selects, House of Genesee, Los Angeles, CA, and Thank You, Outpost for Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. He is also the co-director of workspace, a project space in Lincoln Heights.

Zog’s Dogs Fellow Announced

Zog’s Dogs would like to officially announce the selection of its international Hot Dog Stand Fellowship competition. Zog’s Dogs is proud to name artist Paul Pescador as its 2010 Fellow. Mr. Pescador is based in Southern California, and more information about his oeuvre can be found here.

His artistic fellowship will be taking place this month. More information to follow.

Zog’s is very excited to welcome Groupon! We’ve got two of our delicious Zog Dogs, deep fried to a perfect golden brown crunch and nestled on a yummy steamed bun, for only $5 bucks! Unfortunately, per the Groupon email, we don’t have any deep fried wedding dresses (although it would be rad if we did).

And if deep-fried is not your thing, you can get the two Zog Dogs original-style and cooked on our griddle, with that distinct snap you get from a quality dog with a natural casing. Dee-lish. Can’t decide? Go for one of each!
